Free At Last

From 2012, when I started painting, to the beginning of 2026 I always kept my art practice completely separate from my faith life. “Why connect my art and my faith together when they have nothing to do with with other,” that's what I used to say to myself.

Then in 2016 while working on a large unstretched canvas, I had a major spiritual insight tha got me thinking. This unexpected reflection took me years to proces. Finally, in early 2026 I was able to connect a bunch of dots and clearly see for the first time that my faith is the foundation of all my artwork!

What came next was a major decision: Instead of running two Facebook pages - one for my art practice and one for my spiritual reflections - I closed down my spiritual reflection page (The Thebaid/A Spiritual Oasis) and started posting “all of me” on Carolyn Ellis Art (Facebook)! The joy that has come from being totally me on my Carolyn Ellis Art page has been truly overwhelming.

The content of my art has always been spiritual to me but I never brought it up publicly because I thought it was a personal thing that only interested me - no more! At last I’m totally free to be who I am: a faith-filled abstract artist! O the joy!
